Obolon Corporation has been awarded first prize in the Environment practices category in the Business Case Competition. The event was held by the Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility Development at the Premier Palace Hotel (Kyiv) on December 15, 2011.
Obolon took part in the Contest with its business case dealing with the recycling of plastic bottles (Obolon production facilities in Oleksandria, Kirovograd Oblast). Our specialists successfully defended the Case in front of experts and numerous visitors. The international jury consisting of competent professionals chose the best Ukrainian practices.
During the presentation of Obolon’s project, Oleksiy Yatsyuk, CSR Manager, demonstrated not only the ecological benefits of PET-bottle recycling but all the economic effectiveness of the process. The Project is unique since the production of end products from recycled PET bottles in Ukraine was initiated by Obolon. In addition to from Obolon, Ukrainian companies DTEK and Foxtrot, and international corporations Amway, Poken, and Carlsberg all presented their ecological practices.
We are proud of such high acknowledgement from leading experts, which proves that we have chosen a winning development strategy. Obolon launched its innovative PET-bottle recycling project in 2002. We have been investing in cutting-edge technologies to improve the production process. We are proud to be the only company in Ukraine which can produce bottles from recycled PET bottles. This project is socially significant, because hundreds of jobs have been created in Oleksandria, says Oleksandr Slobodyan, President of Obolon Corporation.
