Question & answer

Solids content is written on the beer label. Does this mean the beer is brewed from powder?

Beer is a natural product produced from malt, water and hops. One can also add barley, sugar, cornmeal, and rice depending on the variety.

Solids content indicates the amount of substances that passed from the malt into water during brewing. They turn into sugars, which during fermentation with yeast form alcohol and carbon dioxide. The more such solid (natural) substances there are in the original wort, the higher the beer density.
