Social reporting
According to a signed United Nations Global Compact in Ukraine, which is a voluntary initiative of socially responsible companies, information on corporate social responsibility is regularly provided in the form of a Social Statement.
Obolon understands the concept of ‘sustainable development’ not only as stable development of the corporation itself, but also of the environment it operates in. That is to say, Obolon recognizes its responsibility to employees and shareholders, as well as to communities.
2009
At the end of July 2010, the Obolon Corporation issued its second Social Report. The document reflects the progress with respect to responsible conduct of business and sustainable development in 2009. This report draws on the best practice of systematically raising stakeholders’ awareness of activities in the area of corporate social responsibility.
The new Social Report of the Obolon Corporation is designed to show its consistent performance in implementing the principles of corporate social activity. The Social Report is executed in compliance with generally accepted GRI v.3 international accounting standards and meets the high ‘B’ rating. It should also be noted that Obolon has been actively participating in the UN Global Compact for three years now, and in accordance with requirements of this organization and the principles of corporate governance, is committed to regular accounting to the general public about its social activity.
The document pays special attention to matters of responsibility for a product at all stages of its lifecycle. The social report shows that Obolon is committed to principles of responsibility for a product starting from procurements to production and marketing and all the way down to package waste recycling. In 2009 Obolon also started a publicity and education program to foster a beer consumption culture in Ukraine. In addition, the Social Report contains the results of operations in 2009,which was marked by crisis developments.
